This time the transfer is for us. We thought we would be spending our whole mission in Lilongwe but our mission president has asked us to move to Blantyre at the end of September to take over for the Bullocks when they go home. In some ways we are excited for a new assignment but we will sure miss the people here. We have shared so many experiences with them and have really grown to love them. It will definitely be hard to leave.
Blantyre is about four and a half hours south of Lilongwe (depending on who is driving). We have been there three times now for a couple of days each time so now we have to learn a new city and meet new people.
There are four branches and a group down there and they are organized into a district. Here in Lilongwe, the two branches are under the mission. The district president there is married to one of "Elda and Seesta Jones" sister missionaries from when they served in Botswana. What are the chances???
When we were down in Blantyre a few weeks ago the Bullocks were busy going through files, making maps and that sort of thing preparing for the new couple that would replace them. When we got home I had the thought that maybe I should start doing the same. It was about a week later that we got the news that we would be leaving here. One of those promptings I guess because, even though we hadn't thought about moving, it didn't seem like a surprise.
Other than some housecleaning, the move shouldn't be too tough. Pack our suitcases, throw our food in a couple of boxes and that's it - all our earthly possessions.
So...guess we're on the road again.
