Day 1 - MTC

With a call in our hands, at 10am we entered the MTC in Provo. Chris dropped us off at the front door, took our pictures and left us in the good hands of the staff here. They take such great care of everyone here. It really is an amazing place. We are so excited to have our black badges.
They have a brand new facility here on MTC campus for senior housing and it's great. Our room is very comfortable and we only have to share with three other couples. We had never seen queen sized bunk beds before. Snooooooring!!!!! Just kidding. The Hampton has nothing on this place. The bed feels great. Two comfy chairs with foot stools and a study table. Haven't figured out where they hide the TV though. Have our own private bathroom compete with shower.
There are 84 missionaries in our group including 4 senior single sisters. Good chance we are the youngest by probably 10 years. We are the new definition of tweens. Today was taken up with orientations, ID card making, imunization checking, welcomes from the MTC presidency and senior missionary coordinators etc plus 2 trips to the cafeteria. That, in and of itself, is quite an experience. Hey, any meal we don't have to cook, clean up and eat again tomorrow is great.
Elder Prete is our district leader and there are 10 of us in our district, 4 couples and 2 of the single sisters. Sister Huff and Sister Kelsey are headed for the Singapore mission, the Kempe's for Germany Frankfurt, the Cardons for California San Jose, the Crawfords for Australia Sydney and us to Zambia Lusaka (enroute to Malawi unless the mission president changes his mind.)
We actually were done with classes by 4:30 then on our own for supper and study or whatever we chose. Looks like that is kind of the schedule most days except tomorrow. We have our malaria class at noon during lunchtime and there is a devotional in the evening with a general authority. They never announce who. We are looking forward to that.
Our first day here was all we hoped it would be.
Well, just got the word from our fearless district leader that it's time for lights out. Have to be in class by 8am.
