Zambia

fdas

The Bullocks and we traveled to Lusaka for a missionary couples conference and for the Bullocks to catch their flight home to Calgary. On the way we came upon this little group with a flat tire. We almost stopped then decided we had better not then changed our minds and went back to help them. They had no jack so we figured out where ours was in the new truck and got to work. It was hard to even get the jack under so the men had to kind of lift/tip the car. As you can see, the little spare is already on in another spot.

A branch of the Luangwa River that I think flows into the Zambezi. The Padoviches say they have seen it running bank to bank during rainy season.

Another shot of the river

We all went to a little game park outside Lusaka and there were lots of giraffes.

...and sables

...and ostriches

...and HUGE termite mounds

This is a wall hanging that Sister Padovich made for the mission office and everyone signs and puts their going and coming dates.

All the couples of the Zambia Lusaka mission. Front- the Padoviches (mission president, from California), the Shields (coming to Malawi, were doing CES, from Calgary) and the Louthans (Public affairs, from Moab, Utah). Back- us(Member Leadership Support, from Cardston, AB), the Lookharts (Office Boise area. Their son is married to Julianna Quon), the Bowers (Humanitarian Services, California), the Bullocks (Member Leadership Support, going home to Airdrie, AB) and the Harveys (Member Leadership Support, from Langley, BC).

The Bullocks. And they're on their way home. These are the guys who really prepared the way for us. They were about worn to the bone by the time we got there but they had all the missionaries in apartments, our house all furnished and ready and had a solid grip on things with the branches so we just had to grab the baton, turn the corner and keep running. Thanks for all you did Elder and Sister Bullock! You're the greatest!
