The Shields (Burton & Patricia) took us out to Majeti Park while we were staying with them in Blantyre. This is them in front of a baobab tree in the park.
This was definitely the closest we have been to a hippo. The river was really high because of heavy rains the night before and he was right there below us. They are HUGE!
and this was definitely the best photo op we have had with a cape buffalo. He is quite the impressive fellow.
There was a swinging bridge over one of the streams in the park and Elder Prete thought he needed a picture...
Another shot of the buffalo.
Hard to tell but there is a baby hippo (you can see her ear) on the other side of this mother. She had her head up resting on the mother's back but by the time I got the camera up this is all I got.
Part of the Blantyre zone. From the bottom - Elder Fly, Elder Muthoka, Elder Horne, Elder Perkins, Elder M (I'm having a brain freeze), Sister Wallin, Sister Getts and Sister Npwanga
